Questions.jpgFrequently Asked Questions on Chiropractic Care

Can a Chiropractor help me with my problem?
A Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) will perform a thorough examination to diagnose the cause of your problem. This will determine if Chiropractic treatment can help you. If necessary, he may order special tests such as x-rays or lab tests. Your D.C. will then explain your diagnosis, recommend a treatment plan and discuss treatment options. If at any time it is discovered that you require attention from a medical doctor, your Chiropractor will refer you to the appropriate medical specialist.

Do I have to have x-rays taken?
Spinal X-rays are usually taken depending on your age, and situation. There are a few reasons why we would not take x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, children on a case-by-case basis, recent usable spinal x-rays and some other various situations. Aside from these situations, x-rays are a vital part of the examination process when looking for vertebral subluxations. X-rays give us important information including the position of the spinal bones, and the quality of the spine and safety of adjusting it. X-rays also tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been involved in your spine.

What kind of treatments do Chiropractors use?
Chiropractors are best known for using spinal adjustments. However in addition to adjustments, Chiropractors employ a variety of other treatments including soft tissue therapies (such as myofascial release or trigger point therapy), physiotherapy modalities (such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation), therapeutic exercise (such as lumbar stabilization) and massage therapy. In any case, the appropriate treatments will be determined based upon your specific condition.

How many treatments will I need?
That depends on the nature and severity of your condition. It also depends upon your personal health goals. Chiropractic care is not addictive. However, with regular and routine Chiropractic care you will enjoy a healthier life. That does not mean that you will never get sick. Yet, with regular Chiropractic care you will get well faster and heal faster from most injuries. Chiropractic Care is preventative care as well as allowing your body to have the best chance for ongoing health development.

Will I have to keep coming back forever?
No, not if it is not a part of your health development program. Just as you have the choice whether to return to the dentist for ongoing checkups, or the medical physician for ongoing checkups or the beautician for ongoing hair care, or the gym for ongoing exercise etc. Many choose to return regularly and use Chiropractic as a way to help them achieve and maintain a more optimal state of health
so they can perform at their best. That is why most of the premier athletes in the world get regular Chiropractic checkups. Routine Chiropractic visits will maintain proper alignment of your spine and in many cases prevent serious injury. The goal of Chiropractic treatment is to remove subluxations and allow your body to heal itself and maintain optimum health.Grandma.Infant_1.jpg

At what age should Chiropractic begin?
Chiropractic is extrem
ely safe and beneficial for any age. Everyone knows of the benefits of Chiropractic for adults and the elderly. Children have experienced incredible results as well. We have adjusted babies as old as two hours. Traumas such as a difficult birth can affect the infant and there have been case histories of infants close to death who have received an adjustment and had miraculous results.
